M. Knight begins next shoot. Johan Hex gets Oscar nominee on board.

The Reading Eagle is reporting that the new M. Knight Shyamalan film, The Last Airbender, will begin shooting in Reading, Pennsylvania. The film is based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series of the same name about the mythical nations - Air, Water, Earth and Fire. Shyamalan's film will with mostly young, unknown actors. The exception would be Dev Patel, of Slumdog Millionaire fame. The star of the Oscar-winning film has a pivotal role as Prince Zuko, prince of the Fire nation. The film will arrive in theaters on July 2, 2010, and stars Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Jessica Jade Andres, Aasif Mandvi, Shaun Toub, Cliff Curtis and Keong Sim.

The movie was announced earlier in the year with a August 6, 2010 release for the realitively unknown DC Comics character, Jonah Hex. Hex was created in 1972 by John Albano and Tony DeZungia. Josh Brolin is set to play Hex, while John Malkovich has signed on to play Turnbull. The film will be directed by Pixar's animator Jimmy Hayward and written by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Recently, Will Arnett and Oscar nominee Michael Shannon have been cast in the Western. While the tentative title is Jonah Hex, some reports stated that the film may be titled Hex.

While never a fan of this comic series, I know of it, and look forward to a big screen version of it.
