Wanted 2 In The Wind?

Another sequel to a medicore film

As preparations begin on the Timur Bekmabetov helmed sequel of Wanted, all I can wonder is if we really need a sequel? Not only that, but there are reports that Angelina Jolie will be returning to reprise her role. So now I am confused, is this a prequel or a sequel?

Bekmambetov told the Russian newsite RIA Novosti, "In July we will start preparation for the film. I think in the late autumn or winter shooting will be performed. The shooting will take place in America, India and Russia."

The sequel reportedly has a $150 million budget, which is the biggest Hollywood production made by a Russian filmmaker, and Bekmambetov will once again have Russian crew involved in all aspects of production.

Some really cool scenes were in the first film but it fell flat for me. The possible scenarios you could set up from the first film could be interesting, but I am still curious as to how this will work out. Hopefully they scrap the Loom of Fate from this one.

Twilight & Slumdog could win big at Hollywood showdown

We're just over two weeks away from the 18th annual MTV Movie Awards, which will be hosted by Saturday Night Live comic Andy Samberg. The vampire flick Twilight (pictured right) leads the pack with seven nominations, but not far behind, with six nods, is the Best Picture Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire. The golden popcorn statuettes will be handed out on Sunday, May 31st, broadcast live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Kings of Leon ("Use Somebody") have just been booked to perform on the telecast, as is rap icon Eminem. Here are the nominees for the upcoming show:

American Jesus

Comics creator Mark Millar is becoming a big name in Hollywood. Wanted was a hit film, Kick-Ass sounds like it could be and now American Jesus will be brought to the big screen.

The story follows a twelve-year-old boy who suddenly discovers he's the returned Jesus Christ. He can turn water into wine, make the crippled walk and perhaps even raise the dead. How will he deal with the destiny to lead the world in a conflict thousands of years in the making?

Originally a 3 issue miniseries, Millar is now stating it will be 9 issues total. But a trilogy of 3 issue arcs. The first arc, titled "Chosen" is just released back into print this week. The second installment will be released sometime in the fall.

Matthew Vaughan who is directing Kick-Ass is eyeing "American Jesus" for his directing feature. Vaughan's film studio Marv Films and his partner Kris Thykier will finance the film independently in the same manner as Kick-Ass.
