The infamous Blue Man Group--featuring Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton, and Chris Wink--will be heading to the big screen...actually, the biggest screen!Although no distributor has signed on yet, the comedy will be helmed by David Russo (The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle), and will be released to multiplex IMAX theatres in the 3-D format.
In an interview with Daily Variety, Russo explained that the feature will focus on the musical trio "entering the brain of a socially and creatively congested person and observing his neural patterns and his habitual brain functions and memory and altering it in a way that helps him bring his inside life outside."
The Blue Man Group has been entertaining crowds for more than 20 years (since 1988) in their own unique theatrical-musical fashion, dressed completely in black, faces and hands painted blue. The mute performers have recorded five albums over the years, and have performed in theatres around the world, most notably in Las Vegas.
"We have to entertain with the science being solid," said Russo, who has previously directed short films and TV commercials. "That's very important to me, having come from that sphere."
Filming is scheduled for the first few months of next year, with a release date has been set for the start of 2011.
